There are a number of ways to find and connect with other meeting planners on the Web. I have found that expanding my professional network has greatly enhanced my abilities as a meeting planner.
Below are links to some of my favorite networking websites.
MeCo – The Meetings Community Online – meetingscommunity.com
Through MeCo, I have gained access to thousands of other planners and dozens of experts in all aspects of planning. This Google group is active, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
IAEE’s Young Professionals – www.ypiaee.com
This is a newly formed resource for Gen X and Gen Y event professionals. The IAEE Young Professionals Committee is dedicated to building a network of our peers, and that can only help all of us.
PCMA Connect – an online Introduction Network – pcmaconnect.intronetworks.com
I’ll admit that being on PCMA Connect is a little overwhelming. But, once you get used to how it works, it’s a powerful tool.
LinkedIn – an online Reputation Network – www.linkedin.com
Visit this unique site and start building your network in order to have a rich database of resources in a wide variety of industries. Use it to find vendors, speakers and venues that are recommended by people you actually know.
