The American Management Association has a great monthly newsletter called “Leaders Edge“, and in their July 17 edition they published an article on some icebreaker activities for meetings. The suggestions are intended for individual meetings (rather than conventions), but they’d work in a breakout, board meeting or internal meeting.
I’ve tried the one that asks everyone to write some facts about themselves on a note card. It’s fun with a group that’s mostly familiar with everyone in the room. We asked specific questions, like “what are you most proud of”, and “how many siblings do you have”. I learned a lot about several of my colleagues.
What icebreaker activities have you tried?
