What are some of the top trends to watch for in the meetings industry this year?
The biggest trend happens to be my favorite topic – green meetings. This initiative is picking up steam, and there are some great resources available if you are just starting to look into improving your meeting’s environmental impact. I’ve written a few posts about this already, and intend to continue posting on this topic in depth in the coming months.
Other trends:
-
Organizations are hosting fewer meetings with more attendees at each meeting, hoping to consolidate their usage of outside vendors and increase cost efficiencies.
-
Destinations are the “hot trend” in recreation – bigger than golf and spa treatments. Meeting participants want to take in the sights that are unique to the city that’s playing host to your event.
-
Interactive web tools for events are growing in popularity – blogs are being used to increase interest and awareness about meetings. The intent is to provide an up-to-the-minute reference for attendees, in a forum that allows feedback.
